One-Time Passcode (OTP) Scope

Ways to use One-Time Passcode

• Secure authentication flows: Add One-Time Passcode (OTP) as a second factor to strengthen login security and reduce account takeover risk.
• Protect high-risk transactions: Require OTP verification for sensitive actions such as fund transfers, password resets, or device changes.
• Support regulatory compliance: Use OTP in workflows to meet MFA and step-up authentication requirements in regulated industries.
• Enhance onboarding and recovery: Confirm control of a phone number or email during sign-up or recovery flows.
• Reduce fraud with adaptive triggers: Trigger OTP only when risk signals indicate elevated risk, minimizing friction for trusted users.

Global coverage

OTP is available globally in 180+ countries and supports international phone numbers formatted in E.164. It can be delivered to users via SMS, voice call, or email.

Industries it fits

• Financial services: Step-up for transfers, withdrawals, account recovery, and compliance checks.
• E-commerce & payments: Confirm medium-risk transactions, verify new wallets, reduce CNP fraud.
• Gaming & social platforms: Prevent account takeover and secure in-game transactions.
• Telecommunications: Mitigate port-out fraud with SIM swap detection, secure line activations.
• Workforce & enterprise: Remote access verification, enterprise login step-up.
• Advance Prefill: Add possession proof to reduce synthetic identity fraud.
