# Security Is How We Grow

Every day, millions of people open bank accounts, apply for loans, access government services, or start new jobs. Behind each of those moments, Socure helps thousands of organizations answer one of the most important questions in the digital economy: Can I trust this identity?

At Socure, that responsibility shapes every engineering decision we make. It also shapes how we think about security as part of the architecture from the start. As [our founder and CEO Johnny Ayers](https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnnyayers) puts it:

> #### “Security and privacy are not functions we add as we grow, they are foundational to how we grow.”

[Mark Carter](https://www.linkedin.com/in/markcartertm) has spent the last 25 years building systems with that same philosophy. That’s why we’re excited to welcome him as Socure’s Chief Information Security Officer.

## Why Now

Mark Carter has been a security and technology leader for an impressive list of companies operating some of the world’s largest cloud platforms, enterprise software ecosystems, AI systems, and regulated digital services. But what stands out is the moments that Mark chose to step in. Throughout his career, he’s come into each organization at pivotal stages of growth, when security had to evolve from supporting the business to enabling it.

At Microsoft, he helped shape the Secure Development Lifecycle that influenced how an entire industry approached software security. At Google, he worked on production infrastructure that powers services used by billions of people while helping launch technologies like Istio and gRPC that have become foundational to cloud-native computing. At Salesforce, Tesla, Vimeo, and most recently Navan, he led security programs for organizations balancing rapid innovation with the operational rigor required to earn customer trust at massive scale.

Mark treats security as an engineering discipline that accelerates innovation instead of slowing it down, and that’s why he’s the right leader for this moment.

## What This Means For Our Customers

Mark’s mandate is enterprise-wide: security, cyber risk, governance, compliance, resilience, and IT. He’ll work across product, engineering, legal, compliance, and customer-facing teams to strengthen our operating standards as we expand globally.

For our enterprise customers and government partners, this means a dedicated security leader who has operated inside the organizations they work with (Salesforce, Amazon, Google, Microsoft) and understands how those organizations think about risk. For our engineering teams, it means a genuine partner who sees security and product development as the same work.

As [RiskOS](/content/solutions/riskos/index.html) evolves into the AI-native decisioning platform powering trust across onboarding, authentication, payments, and account lifecycle events, our responsibility grows alongside it. Every new capability raises the bar.

## Looking Ahead

The work of building trust happens in design reviews, code reviews, incident response exercises, compliance audits, and thousands of engineering decisions customers never see. But they feel it.

Bringing Mark to Socure strengthens that work, and it’s another step toward building the AI-native infrastructure that powers trust across the global digital economy.
